New Tools

It’s important to have the right tools.  Currently I’ve been using some awesome knives (Moritaka Deba, Moritaka Gyuto 270mm) except my butchering knives are the type that bang around the boat and the truck and can get sharp but really don’t hold an edge worth a damn.  (Victorinox/Forschner).  New toys to better process meat.

Moultrie 440 Pound Big Game Scale (to know how big the animals are, and figure out how much meat per animal we’re getting).  May need a bigger one, the biggest wild boar was 700 pounds ;)ar

Gerber 45924 E-Z Zip with Sheath (for skinning)

DMT WM8EF-WB 8-Inch DuoSharp Plus Bench Stone-Extra Fine/Fine With Base (have one of these sharpening stones already, very nice and recommend)

Gerber 22-48397 E-Z Saw (for cutting the cavity)

Hunters Specialties Mag Lift System with Gambrel (to lift the animal over a tree and skin it vertical instead of on a table of the truck bed

Richmond Artifex Scimitar (for general cutting, blade length 10.5 inches)

CCK Butcher’s Knife (440mm for pure awesomeness)

That’s to start.  Without the proper tools, you’ll 1) injure yourself 2) waste precious meat 3) hate life

Go get some
