I got robbed.
Not in the holdem stick em up ways we see every day in chinatown.
In the 21st century way.
Robbed on Tuesday 2/1 (not sure exactly how, but it looks like this was written about on cointelegraph the day after). Through probably some online scam tactics and potential malware. I don’t know for sure. Hacker stole anywhere from 150-$250,000.
1/4 million approximately was my cost basis. Market was down quite a bit in the past few months.
I’m not here for a pity party. I’m hoping out of this post, more than anything, to help others secure their wallet as best they can and know how. I thought I did. I’ve never once in my life logged in from some public place, etc. I’m very careful. So, if it can happen to me…
I hope these people get punished and jailed and can’t hack people again.
That said, and although $250,000 is a lot of money… it’s just money. Money is a means to some sort of freedom, like free time with your kids and family, or an adventure. It’s also fleeting and you can’t take it with you.
Here is the Hacker’s wallet. After me, He’s stolen another 40-50K in the last day.
